CYRLENE – Director

A determined, passionate, strong & caring woman originating from the Leicester area, living in London since December 2003. Previously a team leader, teacher, assessor, working with adult offenders / ex-offenders supporting them into training and employment.

In 2015 Britain’s Got Reggae was born and we felt there was a real need to support up and coming conscious reggae artists from right across the UK.
There are few opportunities and exposure for reggae artists and wanted to fill that gap to highlight new up and coming talent.

Cyrlene Braithwaite is a 2020 BA Honors Music Business Graduate ,she felt the need to get the knowledge and understanding with her new found career with having no knowledge once starting the events.

The platform is growing from strength to strength and in our 6th year.

CHRISTOPHER – Production Manager

Chris is a lover of all things Music and a BA Hons Commercial Music graduate with an eye for detail. Having Graduated in 2017 He  began working in his chosen industry and to date has worked in a variety of roles Including Studio Manager, Event Production and Artist liaison manager & most recently being Urban A & R at Z management, A well established company managing Producers, Songwriters and Engineer. Chris began working as a Production Manager for Britain’s Got Reggae in April 2015. His roles include strategic planning, stakeholder engagement/management, event production, stage management, and artist liaison. Chris always  goes the extra mile to ensure the events run smoothly. 

ADE – Music Business Consultant, Vocal & Performance Coach

Ade had been working with the founder before Britain’s Got Reggae and have delivered several Masterclasses for artists that come through and outside of our events.

UMBA founder Uncle ADÉ, has over 25 years of expertise as a University Lecturer, Music Business Manager, Artist Development Coach and Vocal Trainer.

ADÉ has guided and mentored the careers of Grammy Award winners, MOBO winners, and scores of Music Business executives. His clientele includes A Grammy Award Winner – Deauxpe (Rihanna – What Now), A Headie Winner (Seyi Shay) and several MOBO awards(Raymond & Co, Kele Le Roc, Lisa Maffia, Allyson Brown).

CHRISTOPHER HILLS – Copyright & Intellectual Property Workshops

Christopher has had a long, varied and successful working career which, after a brief flirtation in the late 80s/early 90s, has now enveloped his passion with music.

Following a long period in music management and ownership of a boutique record label Koffe and Kreem Music. His work, now, concentrates on selective music business education with focus on copyright ownership and royalties.

Christopher works very closely with ‘Britain’s Got Reggae’ in order to help artists who have been among the most exploited by the music industry by offering one to one advice and seminars.

MC 5IVE-O – Host/Interviews

Host & Mc on the scene acid house since 1983 more recently known form the Jungle fraternity. Five-0, has been a radio presenter for over 25 years presenting talk shows such as Set Up & Get Up on Kool London and MCing for promotions such as Jungle Splash.

DEANO PRESTO – Host / Interviews / DJ

A man with a deep appreciation for all the things to do with sound and music.

As a professional DJ, Producer, Radio Broadcaster he has worked in many different venues nationally & internationally and has over 17 years of experience. He is mostly accredited as a highly versatile deejay playing many styles of music and putting his magical approach in the art of mixing and blending.

In his free time, he works with artists in his local area and is often supportive of his community events and local shows as well as charity events & fundraisers.

Many have described him as a dedicated and delightful soul with a sound-boy mentality.

Special skills: Hosting, comparing, deejaying, music production, songwriting & sound engineering.

At the moment Deano is Pursuing his love for music production and is currently working on new material.

Deano has been a member of Britain’s Got Reggae from the outset and a valuable member of the team, offering advice and guidance.

BEVERLEY NOTES – Judge

Singer-Songwriter, Backing Vocalst, animator and judge for Britain’s Got Reggae from the outset. Beverley has almost 40 years working with the cream of the crop such as Boy George, Gregory Isaacs, Derek Morgan, B.B. Seaton, Jimmy Riley, Cedric Mylton from the group The Congos. Beverley features on Lee Scratch Perry’s 2017 album and she toured with Shabba Ranks, Wayne Wonder, Fredlocks, Horace Andy and many more.

People have always asked her why she is not a lead singer, but as she was doing so well as a backing vocalist she did not consider it. As Beverley has become older she has decided to do exactly that and is currently working on her own album.

CECIL REUBEN – Judge

Cecil Reuben is the promoter of Reggae Thursday events at Brixton multiple award-winning venue, the Hootananny in Brixton that hat has almost single-handedly revitalised live Jamaican music in the capital.

Since his arrival there the Hootananny has seen visits from artists such as Yellowman, Bushman and Don Carlos, and many many more form the Caribbean & Europe. Cecil also runs regular nights for home-grown artists and musicians as well as those from abroad, he manages artists and runs sound system and selector for Jah Revelation Muzik

Cecil Reuben is the reason why Britain’s Got Reggae event came to fruition. Following a one-off show, Cecil loved how our team delivered the event and gave us the opportunity to run more shows, the seen saw a great response so we came up with the concept of the competition and ran with it.

Cecil has provided many other singers, bands, promoters, producers, sound systems opportunities to spread the love of reggae music and is a massive contribution to the UK reggae scene.
